Question:
Can I cancel my pension preservation fund. I do not want to continue with it any more. What are the implications. Can I terminate this all together and take my money; I'd not can I appeal. Will it be taxed.
Answer:
Ellen, You are allowed one full or partial withdrawal from your preservation fund before retirement (earliest age 55). If you have already made your withdrawal you must wait at least until you tun 55 to access the balance. You cannot terminate your preservation fund, and you cannot appeal against this, in the same way that you cannot appeal against other law in this country because you believe it should not apply to you. You will pay tax on the cash proceeds, per the withdrawal lump sum tax table, but at retirement you must use two thirds of your pension preservation fund to buy an annuity, and this monthly income will be taxed per the income tax table.
