Can I claim for UIF if I am forced to retire?

Question:

The company that I work for has a policy where staff have to retire at 61. As I am still able to work and through no fault of mine, will I be able to claim UIF.

Answer:

Maureen, If you fully intend to return to the labour market, and you meet the conditions set down by the Department of Labour, then you should be entitled to claim for UIF. But rather check with them, as we are not UIF experts (our focus is on pension funds law and retirement investing).
