How long will it take to pay out a retirement fund claim?

Question:

How long will it take to pay out a retirement fund claim, because I have submitted my claim to Absa Consultants and Actuaries on 30 Nov 2012, but still I haven't received my money?

Answer:

Lawrence,

It normally "only" takes between four and twelve weeks to pay out a retirement fund claim. Your form must be handed in to your (former) HR department, who must pass them to the fund administrator. Consultants and actuaries are not involved in this process. You need to contact ABSA's HR department, or your fund's administrator directly, to get this matter resolved.
