Is there rebate on retirement annuity contributions?

Question:

Can you get tax rebate if you do not have medical aid or a retirement annuity?

Answer:

Loyiso,

There is no rebate on retirement annuity contributions - individuals may however deduct contributions up to 15% of their non-pensionable income. No contribution = no deduction. You also have to belong to a medical aid to claim the medical aid rebate.
