What happens to my retirement annuity if I lose my job?

Question:

what if I loose a job, what happens to my retirement annuity

Answer:

Ramotso, The retirement annuity belongs to you, even if you belong to a Group RA scheme. IF you can no longer make the monthly contributions after losing your job, you can make your retirement annuity paid up. You may then incur a penalty, unfortunately. If the retirement annuity value is less than R7 000 you can cash in your retirement annuity otherwise you have to wait until you turn 55 before you can claim your money.
