Mr(s) Fourie, No, that is not true. You are entitled to the tax free (pre-1 March 1998) portion both on withdrawal and at retirement. However, you only get the R500 000 tax free portion relating to your POST 1 March 1998 service/pay-out at retirement (you only get R25 000 tax free on withdrawals relating to your post 1 March 1998 service).
