Can I exit my retirement fund during an administrator change?

Question:

Hi Our holding company is selling a division of the company. There will be a shareholders & company name change. The employers will join a new provident fund. Can I withdraw my provident fund savings when this change happens or do my funds automatically transfer to the new provident fund?

Answer:

Sagie, If this is merely a change in the shareholders of your company, then you are not really leaving the employ of that company, and you would therefore not be allowed to exit your present retirement (provident) fund. The fact that your employer is changing its name and its fund administrator at the same time does not change this.
