Can I get my money if I am not registered with SARS?

Question:

at my previous employer i just found out i was not registered to sars so nw i wanted to know will i be able to get my pension fund

Answer:

Neliswa, No, you cannot get your money until you have registered with SARS. They need a tax number to issue a tax directive on your withdrawal. But you can simply walk into SARS office and request to be registered, but you will have to supply relevant supporting documents, such as a copy of your ID and proof of your current employment.
