Can I use my retirement fund benefit as security for a loan?

Question:

I'm resigning at south African police I've found another job so I want to buy a car immediately after resigning reason being that its far were I'm employed and I'm broke no taxi can rich the place I need money I've been employed for 15 years by south African police so I want bridging money with good interest were can I go which bank or company is best and safe for me please help I have no idea thank you

Answer:

Given Here's the thing: if you are broke you cannot buy a car. If you don't have a car, you cannot take up the new job. And if you don't have an income, no one will lend you money to buy a car because you cannot pay it back - no-one will accept your retirement fund benefit as security for a loan because this is not allowed. So perhaps you should not quit your current job just yet, but rather keep earning an income, so that you can save up to buy a car, or at least get a loan, to buy a car. Once you have the car, you can think about resigning, to take up this new job, if it is still available.
