Does medical aid contributions fall into non-pensionable income?

Question:

Good Day, if medical aid contributions are subsidised half by the company, do we include half of the contribution amount in the non pensionable income.calculation ?

Answer:

Brendon, This would be a fringe benefit (an expense paid on your behalf), not income, and would therefore not fall into non-pensionable income. For this reason, fringe benefits attract fringe benefits tax, not income tax.
