How am I able to trace my pension?

Question:

I have left south africa about 14yrs ago prior to leaving I worked at standard bank and before that first national bank was wondering how am I able to trace my pension and what I need to do to withdraw it. Thank u

Answer:

Ruwayda, To trace your pension, you should contact the HR department of your former employers and find out who administers their funds' unclaimed benefits. You can also request a financial adviser to do a fund search on the Astute system under your ID number. You must then request a withdrawal notification form, which you must fill in and return to the administrator with the necessary supporting documentation (copy of ID and proof of banking). Your payment will be subject to a tax directive, so you must have a tax number. Hopefully you do not have any unresolved tax issues, or else the tax directive could be delayed. The amount must be paid into a SA bank account.
