How can I claim my deceased parent's pension fund?

Question:

My father pass away last weekend, and my little sister still @ school, how can I claim my deceased parent's pension fund as he never being married. I also don't know where he was working. What is the procedure to fund where he was working.

Answer:

Hi Philia,

Please refer to our blog post on death benefits. If don't know where your father worked, you can perhaps request a financial adviser to do a fund search on the Astute system under your late father's ID number, in order to identify the fund administrator so that you can claim his pension fund. However, your father's belongings or papers (payslip, bank statements, tax returns etc), should give some clue as to where he worked, and you can then approach their HR department.
