How can I determine the value of my provident fund pay-out?

Question:

I worked for 3 months and my contract ended. How much will I get from my provident fund if I paid R250 per month?

Answer:

Kumarasen, You will receive the total value of contributions (net of any administration fees and risk premiums deducted) invested in your fund account plus the investment return (net of any fees) on those contributions. The investment return may be positive or negative. As you can see, this formula has many variables that are not know to use, so we cannot provide you with a definitive answer. Unfortunately, it will probably be less than you contributed (R750), as you were only invested for a very short period, and the costs are likely to exceed your return.
