How do I get my surplus apportionment?

Question:

I'd like to know the following: I worked for a company for 20 years and got retrenched in 2010. I was part of a Metropolitan Provident Fund. Some received their surplus money and some not, as I'm one of those who never got paid out. We worked at the retail store, Clicks. So what must I do so that I can also get mine?

Answer:

Melber,

You need to contact Metropolitan (now called Momentum) and enquire about your status. The surplus apportionment may have related to only a certain group of members (eg members who joined before a certain date), or they may simply have not been able to locate you.
