How will my provident fund deduction affect my tax refund?

Question:

Good day, Can you tell me if and how will my provident fund deduction affect my tax refund? regards

Answer:

Keshen, Any provident contributions that were made in your name (rather than your employer's) do not qualify for a tax deduction this year (ie you will not get a refund), but will be returned to you tax free when you withdraw from the fund. From 1 March 2015, your can deduct your provident fund contributions for tax, which should reflect in your (lower) monthly PAYE deduction.
